Everything you need to know about the Kaal Sarp Dosh
Types of Kaal Sarp Dosh
There are 12 types of Kaal Sarp Dosh, named after different serpents, depending on the house positions of Rahu and Ketu: Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhchur, Ghatak, Vishdhar, and Sheshnaag. Each type affects different life areas — for example, Anant Kaal Sarp (Rahu in 1st, Ketu in 7th) affects personality and marriage, while Padma Kaal Sarp (Rahu in 5th, Ketu in 11th) impacts children and gains. The effects are most pronounced during Rahu or Ketu Dasha periods.
Remedies for Kaal Sarp Dosh
Traditional remedies include: (1) Kaal Sarp Dosh Nivaran Puja at Trimbakeshwar (Nashik) or other Jyotirlinga temples, (2) Chanting Rahu Mantra (Om Raam Rahave Namaha) and Ketu Mantra, (3) Wearing Hessonite (Gomed) for Rahu or Cat's Eye for Ketu after consultation, (4) Performing Nag Puja on Nag Panchami, (5) Donating items associated with Rahu (blue cloth, sesame, coconut) on Saturdays. Many astrologers note that the Dosha's intensity decreases after age 33-35 for most individuals.
